Electromagnetic field theory is the main research and education area of the laboratory. Applications in electrical engineering, from electrostatics to optics, are also studied.The laboratory is a pioneer in the research on the theory and potential applications of chiral and other complex media, including metamaterials. Among these are applications in microwave technology, antenna structures, electromagnetic interference countermeasures, and reduction of radar cross section.
The graduate and post-graduate level courses give students a deep insight into the various analysis methods and calculation techniques of electromagnetic fields in different problem areas. The research includes various projects in which students also participate; these contain theoretically oriented research but also software development and analysis tasks for industry.
